Or bring some fishing gear and search for some of Montana’s famous trout hiding in the water. Activities include:

Floating The Madison

Not only is the Madison River famous for its fly fishing, but hundreds of people also float the Madison every day in inner tubes. There is a 4-mile stretch of river that is perfect for groups of floaters, not too deep and a steady speed. Park at the upper parking lot and leave a car at the bottom lot as a shuttle (or if you only have one car you can normally find a ride or hitchhike easily). Innertubes can be found inexpensively at Walmart or for rent in Bozeman. Activities include:

  • Floating
  • Fishing
  • Camping
