New To Big Sky Resort Winter 24/25
Over the past few years, Big Sky Resort has made several major upgrades to its mountain lifts. The Biggest Skiing in America is becoming more efficient and providing skiers with amazing access to their 5,800 skiable acres!
Madison 8
Coming winter 24/25 is the new Madison 8 chairlift which will replace 6 Shooter. This is a huge upgrade for the North side of Big Sky. The new lift will double the capacity of skiers and come with heated seats and a bubble for colder days! When completed Madison 8 will be the longest 8-person ski lift in the world! The Madison 8 is scheduled to be completed in December of 2024.

The Lone Peak Tram
New last winter was the new Lone Peak Tram. This lift completely changed access to the upper mountain. It doubled the skiable vert that can be accessed from the tram and increased capacity to more than double the previous tram. New this winter, all day tickets will include tram access for skiers and scenic riders.

Gondola
Coming in the 25/26 season will be the two-stage gondola that will replace the Explorer Chair and end at the tram. It will include multiple dining facilities and serve as an alternative to taking the Swift Current Lift. The new gondola will also give non-skiers access to scenic tram rides.

New In The Last 8 Years
Over the past 8 years, Big Sky has had some major upgrades to their lifts other than the Lone Peak Tram. They have moved to replacing old lifts with high-speed bubble chairs. These lifts include Ramcharger 8, Powder Seeker, and Swift Current. These lifts have greatly increased the capacity of the resort and decreased lines all over the mountain.
